Mission Statement

As set out in our Charity's constitution, we are here:
'To advance the education of the public by the promotion of the arts, in particular but not exclusively, by the provision of a theatre and facilities for the presentation of public performances.
The Board of Trustees' Mission Statement is:
'To make the Regent Centre the vibrant hub of the Christchurch arts, entertainments & cultural scene.
This is how we aim to do it:
- To develop a range of popular, unsubsidised cultural products and services which make a positive contribution to the operational running costs.
- To develop and implement an improved marketing strategy in order to raise awareness and to increase earned income.
- To provide excellent customer service, exceeding expectations.
- To maximize the potential of the Regent Centre’s physical resources
- To motivate and develop all paid and voluntary staff in order to maximize their potential.
The organisation’s priorities are:
- To ensure that all current operations, improvements to existing services and all new products and services are rigorously evaluated to maximize return on investment and minimise the subsidy requirement.
- To retain a balance of commercial and artistic programming to meet challenging financial targets whilst meeting our charitable objectives. Above all to seek to offer the right product at the right time, to be innovative, responsible and adaptable.
- To create a welcoming, professional, vibrant environment designed to retain existing good will whilst appealing to a wider audience.
Our short term development objectives, designed to help us survive the loss of our staff revenue grant, and survive rising prices and ecnomic hard times are:
- To generate additional income which does not involve use of the Regent Centre auditorium, which is now very close to capacity occupation.
- Further develop our proposal to offer accredited technical/media/performing arts training programme based around the studio and existing projects.
- Explore satellite coffee bar/box office in another part of the Borough.
- Investigate ways of enhancing the social experience of attending film presentations, to combat the increasingly attractive ‘stay at home’ options.
- Investigate availability and viability of screening live events and local interest media in the Studio.
- Public opportunities for support, such as legacies, patrons, advertising, sponsorship, seat plaques to be promoted.
