Peter Gill and Andrew Meller present a fabulous, 90 minute show dedicated to the satirical humour of American comic legends Bob Newhart and Tom Lehrer’. Originating from the 1950s and 1960s, audiences will once again be rolling around with laughter as they are reminded of Newhart’s ‘Driving Instructor’, ‘Introducing Tobacco to Civilisation’ and ‘USS Codfish’; and Lehrer’s sharp witted songs ‘Poisoning Pigeons in the Park’, ‘I Got it from Agnes’ and ‘The Masochism Tango’.

The Tony award winner for Best Book and Best Score is an homage to American musicals of the Jazz Age. The Man in Chair, an agraphobic Broadway fanatic listens to a recording of the fictional 1928 musical comedy, The Drowsy Chaperone. As he listens to this rare recording he is transported into the musical and his dingy apartment becomes the Broadway stage.

He’s done lots in between too, that have led him to a BAFTA nomination, a Gold Award from the British Academy of Songwriters, a SONY Radio Award and nine letter words on Countdown. He has survived all trends in comedy and music and remains one of Britain’s unique entertainers performing his songs, rhymes and stories like nobody else.

Metamorphosis (Studio Theatre)

Inspired by Franz Kafka's renowned story - the parable of Gregor Saamsa, a humble, industrious man, who, upon waking one norning, finds himself transformed into a gigantic beetle-like insect. Hisd metamorphosis is physical and psychological, and through his harrowing and absurdly comic journey Gregor comes to represent the quintesential outsider and alien. Tickets £10, £9.00 concessions.
