SPECIAL PREVIEW The Regent is delighted to welcome the Dodge Brothers and Neil Brand back for a special preview screening of their new live musical accompaniment of the silent movie: City Girl. A lushly romantic drama directed by F.W. Murnau – one of the most celebrated figures of the silent film era. Best-known for Nosferatu and Sunrise, Murnau’s last Hollywood film before his early death in 1931 is this cautionary tale about the clash between city and urban life. Tall, dark, handsome star Charles Farrell plays Lem, a farmer’s son who travels to the Big City, where he falls in love with Mary Duncan’s disenchanted waitress, Kate. Lem brings his new gal home to meet the folks, but his dominating dad (David Torrence) and the pack of leering farmhands put the young couple’s love to the test. Evoking the surreal dreaminess of German Expressionism and bringing to mind the ravishing beauty of Terrence Malick’s Days of Heaven this is an overlooked masterpiece of the late silent era, deserving a new audience. With a line-up featuring Mike Hammond (lead guitar, banjo), broadcaster and film critic Mark Kermode (bass, harmonica), Aly Hirji (rhythm guitar, mandolin) and Alex Hammond (percussion), they are joined by fifth Dodge Brother Neil Brand for this preview screening! Tickets: £16, Concessions: £15, Under 16s and Students in full time education: £10 (including a £1 donation to the Regent Centre Development Fund)

Simon Evans’ last show, Genius 2.0 (★★★★★ “A Masterclass” The Scotsman) provided an hilarious analysis of the departure of any visible sign of intelligence from modern life. But his new show raises the stakes, with his usual excoriating views of a world on fire given a perspective shift from personal revelations that turned his world upside down this year. Simon Evans is the star of Live at the Apollo, Mock The Week, BBC Radio 4's The News Quiz, The Unbelievable Truth & Simon Evans Goes To Market. Simon has made appearances on This Week, Question Time, Celebrity Mastermind, Pointless Celebrities and Mastermind The Professionals. “A gripping and, ultimately heart-warming tale… rich with Evans' wit and caustic observation.” (★★★★The Scotsman).   “You expect a high standard of stand-up from this veteran performer. But in sharing something so deeply personal, he’s exceeded what seemed to be his full potential… I’d expect it to get even better when it goes out on tour. Outstanding stuff.” ( ★★★★ ½ Chortle).  Tickets: £16, Concessions £14 (includes a £1 donation to the Regent Centre Development Fund) Age Guidance: Strictly 14+ Likely to be swearing and adult content

South Pacific is one of the most well-known musicals, with popular classics such as: “Some Enchanted Evening”, “Bali Ha’i”, “There Is Nothing Like A Dame”, “I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Outa My Hair”, “Younger Than Springtime”, “Happy Talk” and “I’m In Love With A Wonderful Guy”. Adapted from the 1948 Pulitzer Prize winning novel "Tales of the South Pacific” by James Michener, with music by Richard Rodgers and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, it was controversial at the time, and still ringing chords today, as it candidly explores the issue of racial prejudice, but doesn’t let that overpower the comedy and emotion that characterises this musical. From the company that brought you ‘My Fair Lady’ & ‘Oklahoma’ & 'Dirty Rotten Scoundrels' Wed 22nd April: All seats £15 (includes a £1 donation to the Regent Centre Development Fund) All other performances: Tickets: £17, Concessions £16 (includes a £1 donation to the Regent Centre Development Fund)
