About Us
The Regent is a 500-seat cinema and theatre in the heart of Christchurch, Dorset.
First opening its doors in 1931 as the Regent Super Cinema, our beloved venue has a rich and colourful history. After a brief chapter as a bingo hall, the Regent Charity was established in 1983 to preserve the heritage and spirit of this iconic building. Today, the Regent thrives as a non-profit, multi-purpose venue, welcoming over 100,000 visitors each year. From live music, comedy, and community performances to a vibrant cinema programme featuring the latest blockbusters, live broadcasts, and timeless classics on 35mm film – there’s always something special happening on our stage and screen.

The daily operations are led by a team of over 160 volunteers, who deliver our box office, retail and information centre positions.
The Regent Christchurch is both a Limited Company and a Registered Charity.
